Restricted mobility travel

Restricted mobility travel

If you have reduced or restricted mobility, we will do everything we can at LeShuttle to help you. Find out more about accessible facilities in our terminals and shuttles.

Booking with an adapted vehicle

LeShuttle offers you freedom to travel to Europe and the UK in the comfort of your own car.

If your vehicle has been adapted to accommodate accessibility needs, make sure you get the best price by letting us know about the adaptations in advance of your trip. Registering your car as an adapted vehicle is simple, and helps us make sure we can make your journey as smooth as possible.

Checking in

To help us deliver the best service, we recommend checking in no later than 1 hour and no more than 2 hours before your booked departure.

We give passengers with assistance needs or reduced mobility priority boarding access. This ensures that our crew can easily identify any passengers who may, in the unlikely event of an emergency, require additional assistance.

Terminals designed with you in mind
  • Accessing our terminals
Our Folkestone and Calais Passenger Terminal Buildings are on one level, with parking spaces nearby for cars displaying a disabled badge. There is easy access to the shops, the Food Village, toilets and low-level telephone booths.

We recommend you make use of the facilities in the Passenger Terminal Buildings before the trip, as we can't guarantee access to toilet facilities on board.

  • Changing Places
We have a Changing Places in the Folkestone terminal building, which includes an adjustable bed that lowers to ground level, a hoist and flexible wash basins in a large wash room with full shower facilities.

Changing Places are free to use and don't need to be pre-booked. The facility is clearly signposted, and you can get access to it by asking at the Customer Service desk.

  • Quiet room
For those travellers who need a calm, relaxed space, a quiet room is available on request, subject to availability. Visit the Customer Service desk in our terminal buildings to find out where an how to access them.

Boarding

You'll find information about boarding on the screens inside the terminal building in both Folkestone and Calais. When your letter is called, follow the overhead signs to the appropriate lane.

Registered Guide Dogs

If someone in your party is travelling with a guide dog we will be happy to welcome them at Le Shuttle. All you need to do is let us know in advance when you book, or by updating an existing booking before you travel. We will do all the necessary checks and ensure everything is ready for them when they arrive. The guide dog will travel free under the EU Pet Travel Scheme.
