48 hours in Bruges
With its lazily looping canal, cobbled streets and historic architecture, Bruges is a perennially popular destination for anyone crossing the Channel looking for a weekend away. It is one of the most picturesque and best preserved medieval cities in Northern Europe, rich in history, art and delicious things to eat and drink.
Bruges is a small city, and with most of the sights within easy walking distance you really can fit it all into 48 hours.
The first thing you should do is take a boat ride through the canals of Bruges, taking in its beautiful gables and spires. Next up - and we really do mean up - is climbing the Belfort, the bell tower that dominates the city skyline. After those 366 steps, you will be thirsty - and Bruges has some of the best breweries in Belgium.

A Brussels city break
Packing plenty of cultural muscle (not to mention mussels), the Belgian capital is a fantastic destination for a city break. The EU have their headquarters here, and those bureaucrats know a good city when they see one. Brussels is a place of beautiful architecture, stunning street art, wonderful museums and fabulous food and drink.
From the Grand Place, one of the finest city squares in Europe, adorned with elaborate porticos, towers and gables, to the futuristic Atomium and the cheeky Mannekin Pis, Brussels will win your heart and make you smile. Indulge in frites and mayonnaise and waffles dusted with sugar, go on a walking food tour or just relax over a delicious Belgian beer in a cosy 'estaminet' bar.
